1) To qualify for a TOPS Scholarship, your student must be registered in the HOME Study option for the 11th and 12th grades of your high school. However, we highly recommmend that you register your student for the HOME Study option in the 9th grade just in case they graduate early or have to graduate early.
2) If you are in a Virtual Public Charter School such as LAVCA – K12 or another Public Online School, you do not register as a homeschool student. As defined by LDOE, students enrolled in a Virtual Charter School are Public School Students who typically perform their school work in a home setting. Conversely, privately funded and parent administred curriculums are what defines a homeschool student as per the state definition.
3) Because you (the Parent) are the Administrator of your students education, we strongly recommend keeping good progress reports, testing if desired and confirming that the curriculum you choose for your student qualifies them to receive grants, scholarships and the necessary accrediation for secondary schools and votech schools.
