Friendly Reminders:

1) To qualify for TOPS Scholarships, your student must be registered using the BESE approved Home Study option for the 11th and 12th grades of your high school. However, we highly recommend that you register your student for the Home Study option beginning in the 9th grade in case your student graduates early.

2) If your student is enrolled in a virtual public charter school, you should not register him/her as a homeschool student. As defined by the LDOE, students enrolled in a virtual charter school are public school students who perform their school work in a home-based setting.  Conversely, using privately funded and parent administered curricula is what defines a homeschool student per the state definition.

3) Because you, the parent, are the administrator of your student’s education, we strongly recommend keeping accurate and well-documented progress reports, testing if desired, and confirming that the curriculum you choose qualifies your student for their post-high school education or training choices.
